It's September Already

I certainly can't believe it has been this long since I did a blog. I asked my husband this morning where our summer went. We both kind of laughed and it was definitely a no brainer for us to figure out. We have working so hard on getting the flower shop started at the Sycamore Tree. It will be a full service flower shop. We want to help you with all of your floral needs (weddings, funerals, b-days, anniversary's, and just any occasion). We have a wonderfully talented designer coming in, Denise Harmon. She is anxious to start working and getting the flower shop in order.

So as we are fast approaching fall and all the pretty colors we are going to try and take a breath and enjoy it! Hope that you all had a wonderful summer and we hope to see you in the store.

Next month - June we are featuring Lynn Bean. She joined us last June for the motorcycle rally and is coming back this year. She is a nationally known artist for her work on the Trail of the Painted Ponies, placing in the top 10 with several of her horses. Her paintings have just recently been converted to stain glass art. She features a lot of western photos as well as some truly amazing motorcycle art, wildlife, and birds. You won't want to miss all the new work that she has. GIRLS NIGHT OUT REPORT

We had a great time last night with our Girls Night Out function. Kind of sounds like people want us to do it every year. Turned out to have between 100-150 guests. So thank you all of our fans, friends, and customers for showing up. Several others wanted to attend but were out of town or they had other events planned.

We ended up giving out some great prizes, free Mothers Day gifts, cake, and fudge. Hells Canyon Winery showed up to serve up some great wines. Kids made Mothers Day cards for their moms and a good time was had by all. Definitely - you will want to check out our facebook page to check out the pictures and posts from our fans.

We are blessed by you all.
Happy Mothers Day and hope you and your families are in for a great sunny weekend in Baker City.

Until next time....

GREAT DAY AT THE TREE

So as it turns out we had a "fixture" sale today. *A clean out the basement sale*....... I can't tell you how many people said "You aren't going out of business are you?" - "Oh - not you too?".........Well - I am here to tell you The Sycamore Tree is definitely not going out of business. Just a much needed face lift to our basement.

In the mean time customers got awesome deals on all sorts of fixtures today. Expensive fixtures at yard sale prices. Most fixtures were $2 or $5 dollars - It was the most amazing sale I have ever had considering there was ONE small trailer load to the salvation army when we were done. WOW!!! We filled up our sidewalk and the neighbors (they were closed) today and it was almost all gone. Thanks everyone! That just goes to show you - the ole' saying is true. Someone's junk is someone elses treasure. :)

The truth is my husband said I couldn't buy any more fixtures (I love to yard sale) because the basement was full. So now guess what.........I can. :)

OH YA - the fudge. Today we introduced a Sugar Daddy fudge...........it's awesome.

Until next time................cheers.

NATIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT'S DAY

Administrative Professional's Week is celebrated from April 22 - 28, 2007.

Did you know:
National Professional Secretaries Week and National Secretary's Day was created in 1952 through the work of Harry F. Klemfuss of Young and Rubicam. Klemfuss recognized the importance and value of the position to a company or business. His goal was to encourage more women to become secretaries. Using his skill and experience in public relations, Klemfuss, promoted the values and importance of the job of secretaries. In doing so, he also created the holiday in recognition of the importance of secretaries.

Today, the title is changing and evolving. But, the recognition is equally important. There are two new terms in use today. They are "Administrative Professionals" and "Executive Admins". The two names sometimes mean different roles and responsibilities to different companies. Both are broader terms, that encompass more positions than the original "Secretary" role.

The name change recognizes and acknowledges that the role has changed significantly since 1952, and for the better at that. And in Harry Klemfuss' day, these postions were the realm of women. Today, you find some males in these positions.

The most common ways of recognizing your Administrative Professional(s) today are:
Flowers
Cards, often with shopping gift certificates
Take them to lunch
Candies
Assorted Gift Baskets

Administrative Professionals Day gifts are by far the most common way of giving recognition to these most important people on your staff. What is the top gift????? Candies......We have you covered. Treat your employee to some of our spectacular fudge. Gift Baskets...... We can help you put together baskets in any range of prices!!!

We can even deliver your gifts in the Baker City limits. Don't delay - order now.

First Official Blog of The Sycamore Tree

FIRST OFFICAL BLOG OF THE SYCAMORE TREE:

Hey - Welcome to our blog. This is the first time I have actually tried this. I talk a lot so I don't think it will be too hard to come up with topics to talk about here. For those of you that don't know about our store, we are a Quality Gift & Home Decor Shop. We also make wonderful fudge. Seems we are always trying out a new flavor. Our latest invention is Black Licorice Fudge. I know you either love it or you hate it. For those of you black licorice fans - I have to say it's pretty darn GOOD. I am sure you have tried the fudge at the coast or other shops along the way but I know if you try ours you will find it superior!!! We use ONLY quality, name brand ingriedients. We ship our fudge all over the United States and sometimes overseas!!! Our fudge has even gone to soldiers serving overseas!!!
We recently were honored with winning the runner up for Country Business Magazine Retailer of the Year. This is a national award so we were able to get a lot of advertising and promotions throughout Oregon and nationally. Pretty Awesome.
We pride ourselves on our gift baskets and selections for that. You can call and ask us to put a gift basket together for any price and we will have it done. We can even deliver in the City Limits!!!
Until next time..............................have a great day and enjoy all the sunshine!
Think of us for all your gift giving needs!!!
You can find us on facebook under The Sycamore Tree!!!
